Anchors aweigh!

A safety requirement for the scow is an anchor attached to 30' of chain. I looked around for anchors but all seemed puny (in size and weight) for a scow as big as ours. So I decided to make my own anchor. I took an empty 5 gallon plastic pail, into which I suspended a big C-clamp with some loops of heavy wire attached. A short length of pipe across the top of the pail positioned the C-clamp in the right spot. I then mixed up a bunch of concrete and poured this into the pail. The final result (slipped out of the pail) will weigh about 95 pounds. It will not be pretty but should do the job.
